Each month, Technology & Media Services recognizes an East Lansing Public Schools teacher who utilizes technology in their classroom in thoughtful ways that enhance instruction.
If you or a teacher in your building stands out to you in this area, please feel free to pass their name along with a brief explanation of what it is that makes their instruction so special. We would love to share it district wide.
Many teachers ask us if there are any free, easy tools out there for digital storytelling projects. Turn your ideas into impactful social graphics, web stories and animated videos—in minutes—using Adobe Spark.
What can you create with Adobe Spark?
WEB STORIES: Turn words and images into beautiful, magazine style web stories that will impress readers on any device.
ANIMATED VIDEOS: Record your voice, add photos or icons, select from professional-quality soundtracks and cinematic motion – and voila!

Technology & Media Services offers one-on-one and group support for teachers all throughout the school year as well as in the summer. Instructional technology activities qualify as professional development under section 1526 and section 1527 if the activity leads to new knowledge about using technology-enhanced methods and strategies to enhance student learning. This means you can schedule one on one technology professional development before school, after school and on your prep and have it count toward your voluntary district provided PD hours (professional development that is being counted as instructional time as allowed by Michigan Compiled Law (MCL) Section 388.1701 Section 101(10), may only occur when students are not already receiving instruction). You may use the list of technology related activities below as you assess your technology needs. This list is meant to act as a guide, not a requirement.

A quick note about an issue we’ve been seeing with Pearson Realize lately. Some teachers are seeing a blank screen when they try to log into Pearson Realize through PowerSchool. This is usually resolved by switching to a different browser or refreshing your current browser.
If a blank screen pops up on the iPads, you can tap the refresh arrow to resolve.
Please contact Technology & Media Services if you have any further questions.
